What a week. The primary focus of the past week was the Motorcycle Swap Meet that was held on Saturday. I’m going to write about it in a separate post, which will publish tomorrow.
As for the services, we wrapped up the Red Letters series this week. It was the kind of series that could easily go a lot longer than the four weeks we did it. After all, there are so many things that Jesus said, it’s difficult to keep it to four statements.
This past week, we looked at his final words before his ascension. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells his followers that they “will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on them to be my witnesses …”
The message focused on what it means to be a witness in contrast to the act of witnesses. Jesus used a noun not a verb in this passage, and that’s significant.
We then talked about why Jesus specifically mentioned Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria in the passage. We learned that Jerusalem represented home, Judea spoke of culture, and Samaria signified people we did not like.
The crowds were okay at both services. It’s funny that they were both smaller groups this week. Strange, since you wouldn’t think there would be a connection between a Thursday night and a Sunday crowd. And yet, we saw smaller numbers at both places.
Anyway, the videos from both churches should be available on their websites shortly.
