I realize I totally forgot to do an update last week, but things have been going great at both churches. We continue to see great numbers at both places. In fact, I was saying to both groups that it looks like we’re going to have to pull out another table or two in order to accommodate the crowds. That’s never a bad thing!
Two weeks ago, we had a guest speaker, Rev. David Blakely. He serves as an assistant superintendent for the district the churches are in. David did a great job kicking off our latest series, Red Letters.
This past week, I continued the series by focusing in on Jesus’ words in John 2:19. In the passage, Jesus tells the religious leaders to destroy the temple and he’d raise it up in three days. As John points out, Jesus was speaking about his own body. After his death and resurrection, the disciples remembered Jesus’ words and realized that he was answering the challenge of the religious leaders.
This week is passion week. It is one of the holiest and most significant week’s in the Christian calendar. I encourage each of you to find ways to focus in on the life of Jesus and all that took place during the final days before his arrest.
I hope you can join us in the services this upcoming week as we prepare to celebrate Easter.
