Weekly Church Report

Okay, since some of you complain that there are times I send out the “Monday report” on Sunday afternoon, I’m changing the name of it!

Bikers Church

  • It was a good night, but a little emotional. One of our longstanding members shared with the church family that he is battling cancer. While I’ve known about it for a while now, it was still emotional as he shared. I love how the church will stand with him and his family as he goes through the chemo. He is an inspiration to many.
  • We launched part two of the Living A Life Of Purpose series. I’m hearing some good comments from people, which is always nice.
  • While our crowd was great, the offering was shocking low. In fact, I think it was the lowest offering in more than a year. Not sure why, but hopefully it was just a blip. (For those reading this who are not part of the church, we are not about how much money we bring in. But, running a church does have expenses, and we need a certain amount each week to make budget)

City Church

  • When I took on the role of lead pastor at City, I had a goal of seeing 120 people within six months. Six weeks into things, and we saw 115 this morning. It simply blows me away. The amazing thing is the number of new people. I’ve heard story after story of people who were not attending church anywhere, and decided to come check things out.
  • I spoke with one guy this morning who just moved to Ottawa. He searched online for a church and when he found the City Church website and saw that we were doing a series on purpose, he decided to check it out.
  • Cam is getting better every week. His team is amazing and I am so proud to have them serve the church through worship.
  • We did our third “Free Store” this afternoon. While it would have been nice to see a few more volunteers, we had a decent crowd. People were lined up outside 45 minutes before we opened the doors. For those who don’t know, the Free Store opens once a month and we give away free clothing, furniture, household items, etc. to the people of the community. It is an excellent ministry and one that will continue to grow.
  • I love the attitude of so many of the “old timers” at City. Over the past six weeks, they have seen their congregation close to double in size. That’s a lot of new people. Obviously, it changes the dynamic of the entire place. Those who have been part of the church for a long time have embraced the change and do their best to welcome the new people. That’s not an easy thing to do, and yet they do so willingly. I truly honour that.

I am truly humbled to serve these two amazing congregations. We are on a journey together, and I can’t wait to see all that God has in store.

Aerie, Ethan, Titus and I would have loved to have volunteered at the “Free Store” this afternoon but we had a busy, busy day planned out; however, we are looking forward to helping out next month. It’s our second week at the City Church and we already feel like a part of the church. One thing that really made an impression on me is how embracing and genuine people are. We were welcomed by your wife within the first 5 minutes of walking in the church — that meant a lot. I’m so excited to see all that God has in store. : ) AND I’m looking forward to the black dress (do it). ~ Tracy Biafore

You know, all this positive stuff in these reports comes from GRATEFULNESS! It’s when we sit back and we reflect on what we see the Holy Spirit is doing, we get blown away, get grateful, get humble, and grace comes to the humble, and that grace does things in people around us, and then we reflect on that, get grateful again, humble again and it just cycles around and then whole thing looks like joy and expectation.
Is there anything too hard for the Lord?
The gates of hell shall not prevail!
      Surely God is among you…
If the church meeting is this much fun, what in the world is heaven going to be like?
