I want to encourage everyone to read this article (including the reader’s responses) posted on CTV’s website.
According to the article, the Taliban have stepped up their attacks on Canadian soldiers in an effort to influence the election and pressure whomever is elected to pull troops out of Afghanistan.
Now, I’m not interested in a debate over whether we should be in Afghanistan or not. That’s not the point of this post. Whether or not you support the war, I do hope you support the troops. In fact, I would suggest that if you don’t support the troops, you should stop reading right now, because you wont like me very much!
You see, I am 100% behind our soldiers. I pray for them daily. They are my heroes. And when anyone, and I’m speaking specifically of the Taliban here, suggests that by murdering our men and women they will be able to influence public policy, it boils my blood.
As I have already shared in a previous post, I’m not sure who I will vote for in this election. However, I can say one thing with complete confidence, if any elected official suggests that we pull back because of the threats made by the Taliban, they will lose my vote. We must stand strong in the face of such offensive statements.
I want to challenge every person who reads my blog to pray for our soldiers daily. Let’s stand in unity on that one thing: we believe in our men and women who risk their lives for freedom.
