Watch This Video

I saw this video on Holy Cow’s Blog.

Watch it. Don’t stop until you get to the end. Trust me, you’ll appreciate it.

Yes I appreciated seeing this. Unfortunately it is very true that as Christians we are guilty of NOT loving as Christ would, but realizing this is ONLY the beginning. I ask you Rob and others why are we like this ?

I think it’s easy to explain why we are like this … we are not truly living as Jesus called us to live. We live a form of religion called “Christianity” and not a life-changing experience that a Christ follower must have.
Our next series, beginning in a few weeks is going to focus on this.

Could one of the reasons why we have so much difficulty living as Jesus called us to live be fear?

That’s one of the best videos I’ve seen in while. I like the quote at the end about how we can tell when we’ve “made God in our image.“
What a difference it would make in the world if more of us would disarm people with love, instead of causing them to raise their defences, as we fire hateful words back and forth.

Who is doing the interviewer? Just wondering because the confession booth thing was done in Donald Miller’s book on a college campus and I think it’s an awesome idea! We need to admit, stop blaming others and ask for forgiveness to those we have offended.

  • jc

Sorry Rob, but I don’t think this ..
“we are not truly living as Jesus called us to live. We live a form of religion called “Christianity” and not a life-changing experience that a Christ follower must have”.
TRUE, but again I ask you why are we NOT living the life we were called to?

Georges: I think you may be on to something there — fear can cause us to not live like Jesus.
Marty: the guy doing the interview is Scott Hodge.
JC: perhaps you should try answering the question yourself, rather than just asking it? I think it boils down to an unwillingness on our part to give our lives fully over to God. If we submitted completely to him, then we would live the way a follower of Christ should live.

You are indeed correct that we need to do a lot of self examination as Christ followers, and yes I have repeatedly asked myself this question. I was looking for your observations of “the flock” as to what you have observed in people that has prevented them from loving in this way.
“I think it boils down to an unwillingness on our part to give our lives fully over to God”.
Why would we not fully submit? Again I agree this is a good self examination question.
“If we submitted completely to him, then we would live the way a follower of Christ should live”.
Yes indeed because the Holly Spirit would not be impeded.

I think the question and the answer becomes clearer when asked said in the singular form and NOT the ‘royal we’ form. Why do I not live the life I am called to.
Cuz its fucking hard work and I am at times lazy, and greedy.
THAT would be my answer for ME.
