On Thursday night, I announced to the people at Bikers’ Church that I have agreed to assist the fine people at City Church (CC) through the process of finding a new pastor. This decision came after discussing it with our leadership team, who were incredibly supportive of the idea and felt that it was an excellent opportunity to serve another congregation in our city.
Eric & Angela Deschamps, the pastors of CC, resigned a few weeks ago. They believe God is leading them into a direction other than pastoring. Their plan is to stay here in the city and serve God through various business ventures. They are an incredible couple and wonderful Christ followers. Twelve Fifteen years ago God put it in their hearts to plant CC, and they have been faithful to that vision for all those years. It is going to be difficult for CC to say goodbye to such loving leaders. I truly do honour them.
At the same time, this is an incredible season for CC. It is clear that God is shaping this amazing church for the next chapter of it’s story. While we are uncertain of what is to be written, we know that if God is leading and directing it, then it will be an amazing adventure. I believe great things are in store, and the people who make up this congregation will look back on this season with awe.
Personally, I am humbled by the opportunity. As a pastor, my desire is to simply serve however God would lead me to serve. I am more than thrilled with what God is doing through Bikers’ Church, and to see my church family be so supportive of this decision is simply inspiring to me. My prayer is that we see both congregations move forward in God’s blessings during this season.
