Okay, so those of you who are clamouring for the iPhone (being released this Friday) are likely frustrated over the data plans that Rogers is offering. Compared to just about any other country that is carrying the iPhone, we are being overcharged. Still, we line up to buy it.
However, in case we think Rogers is the only culprit, check out this story about Bell & Telus now charging for incoming text messages. Think about it. You get SPAM text messages and then have to pay for them! A company sends out a text advertisment … YOU pay for it. If it’s a Bell customer texting another Bell customer, the company gets double the amount for that one message.
We simply NEED a company to step up to the plate and finally bring some competition to the cell phone industry in this country. No wonder we are one of the lowest users of cell phones (per capita) in the world.
