I realize that many of you probably don’t know who Steve-O is, but I think this story is sad. 
Steve became famous as a star on MTV’s show “Jackass”. He, along with a bunch of other guys, did really stupid, gross, bizarre things (that I wont bother going into here). They also did a few movies based on the same idea.
I was never a fan of the show or the movies (nor am I a fan of any of that type of show). However, there were times when I would watch Steve-O in an interview and think, “This guy is a whole mess of hurt.” I would see it in his eyes. (I would also think, “This guy is nuts.” “This guy is a jerk.” “This guy is sick.”)
Of course, MTV and society at large really didn’t care at all about Steve. All they wanted was to ride on the coattails of his short lived fame. And once they were tired of him, he was cast to the gutter, just like thousands of other “entertainers.” As North Americans, we do that. Oh, and then we beat them up when they are down.
Today, Steve is likely just trying to find a little bit of the “rush” he felt when he stood before thousands. He’s looking for the high that he experienced when he would sit on the stage of The Tonight Show or Letterman. Instead, he’s being charged with vandalism because of a dispute with a neighbour over a fence. It really is sad.
I don’t know why, but I just felt like saying a short prayer for him this morning. May he find the peace that only God can provide.
