Debt Management : Pay Your Dope Bills

The CBC has another interesting article (wow, quoting two articles within a week!). This one is about how the Canadian Government is owed something like $500,000 in overdue payments from people who purchase marijuana for medical purposes (You can read the original article here).

I’m not sure why this article strikes me as funny, but it does. I think it’s hilarious! I began to picture people taking a debt management course, or seeing a credit counsellor, and working through all the bills they have. Where do they put their “dope bill”? Is it right up there with the MasterCard payment? Do you call up the “Dope Department” in the Federal Government and set up a repayment schedule? (Yeah, I know, I said “Dope Department” in referring to the Federal Government and didn’t even cut a bunch of jokes about it).

What do you think of medical marijuana? Are there legitimate reasons for it’s use? I know that as a Pastor, I should be saying, “Absolutely not!”, and I know that my initial reaction is just that, but I’m curious to know what others think.

Either way, pay your dope bills! :-)

That its not free is beyond me, considering its grown in their own facilities. I guess they get to make some $$ like anyone else. Yes its been proven to work miracles as pain management and appetite increasing — for those cancer patients or terminal patience that need it. Many medications what has now street value was first and still is MEANT for medical reasons only — this one happen to start the other way around. I guess one needs to first walk in the shoe of the sick to truly understand.

Carrie, I think you might be right. It’s why I try to hold off on judgement on this … I’ve never been sick enough to need medical marijuana … and so while my ‘initial reaction’ is one thing … it doesn’t mean it’s what I believe … I’m just curious to know what people think of it.
